In almost every case, yes. We use in-wall rated cable and a recessed outlet behind the screen so power and signal both run inside the wall. Brick, stone, and steel-framed walls are the exceptions, and there are tidy surface solutions for those that still look deliberate.
For a smaller room with one seating position a good soundbar is an honest answer and we will say so. Surround earns its keep in a large or open-plan room, where dialogue has to carry and the seating is spread out. We recommend based on the room rather than the price of the gear.
